Winter Nomworthies.

The chilly winter months mean . . . time to chow down on SL foodz. Hehe.

You can grab these nom noms I'm holding here for free at Hanauta (see the Styling Credits below); the free picnic basket comes from Poche, and these naughty baby kangaroos are the current free group gift at d-lab (don't worry, yours almost certainly won't go diving willy-nilly into your pancakes like mine did). -- Plus aren't these free tights supercute? You can see another black & white design included in this gift pack on my Flickr here; plus speaking of noms, this store is giving away free frosted cinnabun earrings as well, that you can see here. The white candy sweater has been out since Halloween (NOTE: get it inworld for $5L, since it's $10L on Marketplace for some reason) but I thought these sweet candies & cupcakes print looked so cute against this free hot pink skirt.

We tend to focus a lot on fashion, decor + other "gettable" items here on Free*Style, but some of the best free things that you can experience inworld are the thoughtful builds that you can encounter thruout our metaverse. The Shoe Heaven build (absolutely stunning in its architectural details) at Shoetopia 2013 is a great example of this; another is the spectacularly lovely floating "night market" at the Water Lantern Festival, which sets various stores afloat on lily-strewn waters, complete with colorful hovering lanterns glowing brightly against a smoky indigo night sky -- offering a lush backdrop for some really cute gatcha grabs, like this brown coin purse necklace I'm wearing here by C'est La Vie (unfortunately this li'l event is ending tomorrow (on 11/20), so if you want to check it, you gotta hurry ASAP).

Springtime Hunting.

A casual ensemble for you today that's less a composed look + more an eclectic assortment of goodies that are yours for the taking, courtesy of various hunts being hosted around the grid.  
And since I always go on about how hunts are prime pickings for top-quality home decor gifties, I wanted to show you some lovely things from the Easter egg hunt currently happening at The Nest. -- What I enjoyed most about this hunt was how "Easter"-y it felt: it's an bona fide egg hunt in every sense, since there's literally a bounty of eggs sprinkled generously around the SIM. With so many eggs in plain sight, it's an easy one even for the rookie hunter. As a fair warning, the SIM has been swarmed, so you may want to go as low-lag as possible. How cute would these things look on anyone's table or dresser?
I also had to mention 1 of my fave recent gifties: this utterly charming, "Alice legs" charm necklace that's free by Sheep Door (it's shown in both photos here). I have a few things to show you today before I go to bed and then wake up a few hours from now and have a super busy RL.  Blargh to busy!  I am moving in RL and my child is starting preschool so my time for SL is very limited.  I want to blog but there are not enough hours in the day lately! I loved these things so much though that I had to make a quick post anyway.

My necklace is part of a set from Lassitude & Ennui for the If I Were Rich hunt.  I love that it includes a version of the necklace for those that are more on the busty side.  My skin is 1L from Mother Goose's and is super cute, as usual for them.  I love the shape of the lips especially.  My hair is from D!va for Collabor88 and I am so impressed with all the color change options for the headband and there is even a no headband option.  My lingerie is from Sn@tch and is not free but as with all their items there are lots of colors in one pack and I adore it.

Fall into Spring

I recently came back to SL after a year away. After finishing up with my creation for the Crazy Hair Hunt 3, I naturally wanted to shop, and see what was new out there. I was one of those desiners who hadn't updated to V2 yet, so I was still on 1.23 when I left. There was a lot of catching up to do!

What prompted me to want to do up a post was a notice from IM CaPPed. The Designer/Owner, Victoria Bazylinski, has a Rez Day coming up, and she has decided to put out some celebration deals for us all. She has all hats marked down, two are offered for free(one of which I am wearing here), and all the eyes in the TealMeMore shade are only L$13.

I went on a search for anything to go with the orange hat, but ended up with a bunch of fall like colours to mix together instead. I don't get to wear hats often, as most of my hairs are too over the top to fit one on well enough. Can't cram one on a mohawk, that is for sure!

Blond in blue

I noticed this gorgeous dress at Evelin Felwitch's blog. Since then I can not take it off:). I thought it will go perfectly with a pair of earrings which you can get for absolutely free at Wertina store. Also it matches the eyeshadow from a dollarbie skin of Mother Goose's. As the skin is rather pale I decided to go blond. The updo blond style is from Heart Softens. In the pack you will also find a wedding dress with accessories and another version of these hair. Booty Rockin'

OK that title doesn't really have anything to do with this post other than I thought these shorts from C'est Moi made my av's hips look super good.  Haha!  All these colors are making me feel super early 90s and I am cool with that. I'm also cool with this free big fat braid from D!va!  I haven't had hair long enough to do a style like this in RL in a long time and FINALLY I can get awesome braided do's!  I don't have to be as jealous of my av now. :P  Though I am still pretty jealous of her bangin' bod. :D

My tank top is from Somnia and it's a gift at the Seraphim HQ.  I was going through my recent items tab trying to find something from the last week to match stripes.  I had plaid, polka dots, leopard print...you name it.  I almost gave up and scrapped the outfit when I saw that not only were these tops free they were in a plain fabric AND in more than one color.  Somnia saved the day!  To finish off my crazy color explosion I chose to wear this skin from Mother Goose with over the top blue eyeshadow.  Not just for grannies anymore!

Happy Saturday!  I have a few things here I think you'll enjoy.  First off, this dress and hair flower is from one of my fave stores, Deviant Girls, and is hidden in a pumpkin patch at the Voc Linda sim.  Basically you go to the Voc Linda church and find 2 pumpkins, one with this dress/hair flower and a second from Chocolate Atelier that contains a sheer, black dress.  Almost all of the pumpkins are set for sale but only 2 of them contain the prize.  The hair is a group gift from Yuna's, a store we have blogged before that not only has nice hair for sale but is also very generous with gifts.  The hair comes in 3 colors, each with a different bang style.

The skin is from the Lavanda sim hunt.  The hunt isn't hard, just a little bit confusing, haha.  Basically, you join the Lavanda mall group and TP to the shopping area.  You click the sign that will give you a funny head/hat thing to wear.  You look around all the shops and click the little black halloween goodie bags.  Once you find all the bags and the map you can click the last sign for an LM to the secret prize room.  Inside you will find a bunch of gifts from amazing stores, such as this skin from Mother Goose's.  Have fun!

4 years of anything in SL represents like 28 bajillion dog years (give or take), i.e., something of a mad epic achievement. Here's to that ah-ha moment 4+ years ago when our own Creamy Cooljoke breathed blog + group life into her idea of not only free finds for the inner cheapskate in all of us, but that other li'l thing that breathes life into fashion, Style.

Holiday In the Sun

I am feeling the bright colors showing up right now! Orange and teal seem to be popping up everywhere and I ain't complaining! "Hey Sileny! Ain't isn't a real word!" "Oh yeah? Fetch me a dictionary." *Grabs dictionary and slaps grammar police on the head* Teehee!

Poses: Status. These poses are AWESOME! The poses are made by bloggers who know exactly what a pose needs to be. They have poses made for nails, for big hips, etc. They aren't free but they are worth it.
*Note about the skirt on the dress: It's a sculpted skirt and like all sculpted skirts you should be prepared to have a skirt shape, a straight-hipped AO or a hip alpha. This is with all close-fitting sculpted skirts, I just thought it would be good to share a reminder for folks.
