Hair Fair Gift Tour: Chapter 1

Greetings from Hair Fair!!! Hair Fair is all about new hair and new hair only!  This year is really special as all hair are donation items, which means that at least 15% of proceeds will benefit Wigs For Kids, though I saw many designers donating up to 50% of the purchase price to charity.  Wigs For Kids has been the charity cause for a few years now and it's purpose is to provide hair replacement for children who have lost their own hair due to chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions.  The official website for Hair Fair '11 is an invaluable resource as it has slurls for all designers and as well as an exhaustive list of suggestions to make the trip more enjoyable and a lot less laggy.   The sims were designed and built this year by the Hair Fair Committee, a dedicated group of folks who have been doing this for years, so they know what does and doesn't work.  It's a beach theme (think The Deck ;) and if you stay on the path you will eventually hit every booth at the fair.

My Free*Style posts are going to show some of my favorite gifts from Hair Fair '11. It isn't an exhaustive showing of everything there; I wasn't crazy about all the gifts and Hair Fair is not about gifts...it's about charity and new hair.  In spite of that there are at least 60 gifts at Hair Fair that are free or 1 L, which is a WOW that deserves a big thank you to the generosity of so many talented designers. Lots more on Sim 1 to find and worth grabbing!

I totally dug this hair gift from Gauze. Gauze has 2 fun, funky styles in their gift as well as this separate hair ornament. Toast Bard of fashionably dead gave this great purple leopard body suit as well as the necklace and earrings AND sunglasses of awesomeness.  I paired them with some denim gauchos from Mocha that are on sale this week. I've been eyeballing these for awhile and was amazed when they weren't already in my inventory and forgotten (but we won't talk about my inventory).

LeLutka had my top gift hairstyle this year.  It's called Pinned and is a wonderful fatpack that shows roots that are so popular this year. It reminds me some of a tamed down version of Rykiel, that is hard to remove from my head.  The barrette is not color change but if you have some texturing talent the hair is mod so you can make changes as needed to this accessory.  The skirt outfit is from pr!tty who also has some great hair feather headbands and accessories, which didn't work with this hair but are awesome!  The cuffs and collar are part of a very large gift from !DERP.

I love great looking retro hair and Pocket Mirrors has an awesome cut in Melinda.  It comes in two colors.  I usually am a blonde in SL but for some reason I seem to prefer dark colors when it comes to retro styles.  The lovely hair bow is a gift from Donna Flora.  It is impeccably textured and detailed with lovely filigree gold detail wrapping the pearls. It's truly a sensational little piece.

Finally! Pididdle!

The adorable Brutus Martinek from Pididdle has been planning on opening a new main store on the Existence sim and it opened today!  To celebrate she has made some season themed versions of some of her new releases.  They are hidden in 5 easy to find pumpkins and will cost you nada.

The Beirut Jeans in "That Creepy Feeling" version as well as the Obsessions Top in "Pumpkin Patch Party" as well as the Boo necklace are 3 of the items you can find in the little hunt.  I added the non-free Beirut Vest in black because it's such a madly versatile piece, plus I think its really sexy.

Check out the amazing texturing on the Obsessions Top.  I love Brutus's attention to detail.  All her new releases come in about a billion colors, which makes it about impossible for me to buy only one.  Thanks, Brutus, for all the fantastic gifts!

For a morbid soul like me, Halloween is a god send. It answers so many questions in one awesome little word. "Why are you covered in blood Ash?" "Halloween" "Why are you impaled on an AFK spear Ash?" "Halloween" "How come your eyeball just fell out Ash?" "Duh cos it's hawt :P"



Are you a member of the Cynful subscribo? You should be, cos apart from regular gifts that are the smex, you get to be first to hear about new releases and such. Some of you may have this already, but it was re-sent this morning, and seeing as my inv has been playing up, I was stoked to have this outfit again. They also had a yummy Halloween dollarbie out last time I went, it may still be there if you get a move on.



Sugarcube has opened a store in LeLook and this dress is free for a limited time. You get every layer combo which I love, especially cos I'm usually all tattooed up. The amazing photo sets I used aren't free, but if you have some spare cash to splash, these and others at Lost Angel Poses would be my pick. Shown here is "Last Call" and "Loved You". Now I'm off to start making mini Ash's costume for her school Halloween party........surprise surprise she wants to be a zombie :P Ash out.

WALPURGISNACHT!!!

When Dare dropped a folder on me labeled "Walporgis", I was like dood, how the hell do you pronounce it?!! Of course Sasy cracked up, "You don't blog in voice silly!" Point taken but still, I like to know shit :P



The upshot is this: Dare Designs is having a hunt for 48 hours. The prizes are amazing, ranging from clothes, to jewelry, to the most incredible monobike I have ever seen.



I'll copy some of the card to you : WALPURGISNACHT!!! (otherwise known as Beltane for us Pagans...)

It is traditional to celebrate the coming of spring and the renewal of life with fires... bonfires and passion's flames, actually... and to honor this tradition I've laid out a Hunt for the two nights of Walpurgisnacht (48 hours, actually).

There are twelve balefire prizes to find, roughly half hidden in the store(s), the other half spread throughout the sim. Since Walpurgisnacht is Halloween in spring, there's a trick to finding these treats - you'll need to look high and low, watch for secret doors and passages, and check all the spooky corners. The prizes are numbered, though - so you'll know when you've found all 12.

The hunt begins midnight tonight and will end midnight, May 1st. (I may extend it if enough Hunters need the time)

Just so you know what you're looking for - the first balefire prize object is VERY easy to find.

This first dress is from Black Arts @ the Dominion. Isn't it just to die for. I'm really not sure how long it will be free for, I found the note card buried in my inv when I was cleaning it out last night.



This next dress comes to you courtesy of Isadora Vayandar who sent out a HUGE note to the Lucky Chair Stalkers group. You'll find the lushness at Amariah, a new to me store. I adore the textures on this dress and so will you!



Here's an offering from Gothica, an older freebie, but a goody. There is a new freebie there also, but after searching my inv for ages looking for the top, I realised there was none :P The "top" consists of pasties only and a neckpiece, you can see a pic of it over hurr thanks to Feo.



And finally, this weeks freebie from Little Britain. Mad bitch? Yea sounds fitting. The deliciously beaten skin is from DJunk, another new to me store and another find of Isadora's. So after much deliberation, and a million sleepless nights soul searching, I have come to a huge, life changing decision. I am packing up my toys and going home to London. This will happen very quickly, once I get Mini Ash's passport (which prob takes the longest, grrr Australia) we're gonski. I love my adopted country, and the move won't be a permanent one, but Riley needs extended family, and quite frankly, I need a break. I've had one "day off" in 4 years, my best friend has moved across the country after living down the road for the last 13 years and the support system I did have is now almost non existent. Honey (my best friend) always said "Happy mummy, happy baby" meaning I should be looking after myself, making sure I'm 100%, so I can be 100% for my daughter. I haven't been doing that, I've been trying to convince myself I'm super human and can do it all. It's a relief to admit I'm not and I can't.



First up is this fun, and oh so cute lucky chair outfit from Luxurious World. White and red together just screams spring to me, all bright and fresh. The capris do have prim cuffs, but I was having a hell of a time trying to edit them to look right with my crap graphics. I failed!



For a complete fashion "about face" this weeks dollarbie from KOSH. The "Toluca" set in Mould is made of win, and guess what? Moar win for you in the form of the "Brittle" set, for BOYS! That outfit is the total smex, and includes jeans, belt and a shirt.



Hop next door to Concrete Flowers to scoop up this fun dress, one of 3 dollarbies this week. One of the others, the "Flying Tofu Sausage" had me in fits of laughter. You wear it, and it poses you on a sausage as if it where a hammock, fucking inspired! The "Madonna" boots shown here are this weeks freebie from Vixens @ the Dominion. Have you all had a fabulous Easter so far? I've had an absolute ball catching up with people I usually only get to see fleetingly due to timezones.



I have some beautiful things to show you. First is this subscribo gift from Trap. The "Koi" tattoo is designed to go with the infamous skins of the same name, I own the Rose, but I thought I'd show off the art work on a plain skin, no other tatts. You can see the progress on Selos's blog, as well as a really gorgeous full sized shot.



The next outfits are an Easter gift from LeLutka. You get the pants, several belt versions and 4 colours of the shirt. And ssshhh, look closely. There's a sneak peek of an upcoming release from Dare Designs. The shoes are called "Mistress' and they are the awesome. Stay tuned for a release date.

The group received a massive box of goodies this morn, but just so you know, if you're joining now, there will be a 500L fee. Yohane Rockett of Strayer sent me this shirt the other day. I was like oooo, my first designer passing me shit! Happy dances! Nice thing about it, is it could be worn all year. It's not covered in eggs. You have to join the group, and then click the little box beside the group sign, at the store. Then it'll all be yours! It is unisex too, or at least I made sure it looked fine on my dude shape.

I found this skin that just went so well with my theme. Didn't need whiskers or anything!



I found these jackets by accident. God I love it when that happens. Wanted to bunny hump the signs, make multiples. I guess I'll have to deal with you all buying it and being bunny clones!The pinky one(uck!) is for the Chics and the Black one is for the dudes. I didn't feel like crossdressing today. I'll have to man out for your soon.

With Mini Ash being on the mend (read running round like a lunatic trying to kill hug the cat) I had some time yesterday to do stuff.

Then I found out about a hunt at Miasofia. Cue bloodcurdling scream for the lack of group notices (ps LL sort that out soon pls kthnx) You're looking for fried eggs, theyre not hidden at all, the idea being for you to explore the new build. I also won twice on the lucky chairs while I was there, this dress from Lurvebite is one of my winnings!! Also made me realise I have some kind of bug going on when taking pictures of items with glow in them. Anyone else having glow issues or is it something *special* reserved just for me?! I also won a gorgeous "Romance Room" from the Miasnow lucky chair, which I left on Sasy's beach, bah!



This gorgy chocolate dress is one of the Lurvebite gifts. It comes with a choice of 3 skirts and all sorts of layers, yay!!



OMG. Is this not the cutest skin in the whole of fucking SL? This is prize number one from Miasnow. It's different from the original Hunny skins, especially around the mouth and nose, I love the changes! I'm hoping for a new line of these *bats eyelashes* :P On another note, for this post I used the VR Foundry pose HUD and library (after getting yelled at by Sasybum for not having an updated product!!) I'm not good with technical shit, but Sas has an awesome video of the front page of her blog, outlining how to use the pose stand, HUD and HUD library. I was moaning about not being good at location pics, and also the rezing of poseballs and such is an issue. Not anymore! Once you get the hang of using it, it'll revolutionize your photo taking, srsly. Ash Out.

I don't remember if I bought them, or if they are an old gift. Whutevs, they're my faves!!
