The Zone

Here we see Sileny, a simple grocery store clerk, out on a weekend trip to the nearby woods.  We see next an apple tree and a tent, a horror in blood, a rustling coming from inside.  A choice is to be made: run away for help immediately or check inside the tent for survivors, possibly saving a life, but risk finding someone or something else.  For some the choice is clear, for others not so much.  For Sileny all choices will lead to the same destination.  Welcome, Sileny Noel, to the Twilight SLone.

Worn/Used:
Tree/Tent and Backpack: Paper Moon @ Mad Pea Lennon Park Massacre hunt event, prize.  To do the hunt/event you must purchase a Hud for 200L.  The Mad Pea events are always super cool and totally worth the hud cost.  Lots of vendors have gifts in the event.  It's especially worth it for those who like stories!

P.S.- This hunt costs 200L because it takes a ton of work to set up and the land costs for it, everything, need to be covered.  This is ust as much about the experience as he items.  Standing around the landing point and complaining about the cost only makes you look like a tacky, greedy, rude person.  OK, sorry, rant over.

Should I pay fees to join groups? Yes!

Sometimes you see a wonderful group gift but the group has a fee to join and you have no clue if you should pay for it or not...

All depends how do you really love that store.

There are three paid groups I joined and never leaved , for totally different reasons, the first one, Auxiliary, because the store is really awesome, they send new gifts quite often and the old gifts are all there to grab.

The ID. group, because is my favorite eyes store, and she also send gifts of her new releases quite often.

The other is Elikatira ... because I really wanted to know when she would be back, even with the lack of notices... because.. is Elika! And those who remained all this time on the group are now rewarded, the group is closed, but soon Elikatira will reopen and she sent a teaser hair  for vip group members, and it is cute!

And I know i already blogged here, but is cool to remind you all, Filthy Group still free to join and you can get the previous gifts  too!

Hair Fair 2103: Nitty Gritty - The Best Gifts (pt 1)

Hair Fair 2013 is in full swing. The big crowds have dissipated and you can easily navigate the 4 sim wide event. The sims have been split into three parcels, each one is using the non visible attributes of SL so that you cannot see people in the other parcels and the buildings are all phantom so that you can slip in through the walls if the entry to one is crowded.  The hair is fantastic this year, especially mesh styles as they are now so fully integrated into our wardrobes. Today I am going to concentrate on what I thought were some of the best gifts (0 - 1 L) at the fair.  There were lots of gifts this year and the quality varied. Some were very current, while others were older styles with old textures and/or flexis, so there is something there for everyone's taste. I spend a lot of money at Hair Fair every year and see gifts as a chance for me to become acquainted with a designer's work and the good ones are worth the search. 

One of my very favorites is Alison from EMO-tions (Sim 1 - Cloud).  It comes in two colors and includes the hairbase.  It's not mesh nor should it be.  The textures are really great.  My necklace, from HANDverk, is a new release for the final round of Zodiac.  The Zodiac version is available in 5 colors at a discounted price of L$150. They are 100 % original mesh and textures (I watched Daphne make them so I can vouch!) making it a steal for a one of a kind item. 

eep's gift for Hair Fair (Sim 3 - Brickness) is a fantastic mesh style that has optional bows that change color.  This style is mesh and the textures and sculpting is impeccable.  It comes only in green but it's a really fun green that I do not see around a lot.  Just on that point, it's a keeper.  My woodland necklace from Deco is currently available at Collabor88.  Deco is another brand that does all it's own sculpting and textures in-house and I'm fussy, so I like that.  I adored Sn@tch's new Pop Violence Bustiers and you get all colors in the size of your choosing.  Love them, Ivey!

Another fantastic mesh gift is Ann from Due (Sim 2 - Port).  It is a two tone pink style that can be worn with both casual and dressy looks.  I just wanted to note that it is rigged and cannot be resized and I did have to adjust my forehead (losing all my brains) and my ear angle but both were easy fixes.  The lovely jewelry set is a Hair Fair gift from Zibska (also on Sim 2).  Zibb Scaggs' gift was so generous and included a full set of eye shadows in addition to the jewelry.  Thank you!  The top is a hunt gift I recently found at Auxillary for the Fist Pump Hunt and comes in both Sky and Copper (really nice! TY Tyr).  Auxillary also gave a very generous clothing gift at Hair Fair (Sim 4 - Harbour) though I've not gotten around to shooting that yet.  My shorts, though you can barely see them are from Sn@tch and are for the Dark Katz hunt. It includes a fat pack of leopard print mesh shorts in all kinds of colors.  Again, Ivey rocks!

Last on my list for today is Janetta from Miamai (Sim 3 - Brickness) .  Janetta is a nice banded ponytail that is to be worn with a hairbase. It comes in 6 colors (both "normal" and "fun" colors) and includes matching hairbases and a HUD to change the color of the hair bands.  Awesome gift - thank you, Monica!  The Gouchi earrings are a gift from Herve Faenzo (also Sim 3), who had some of my favorite hairs at the event.  The oversized earrings include a hud so that you can change both the metal and stone textures.   My outfit, which shown here does nothing to show how awesome it is is part of a two outfit subscriber gift from Hucci. Ebony Khan has been releasing one sexy mesh item after the next lately and the gift includes special colors of her two newest releases.  A tip about the subscriber - you cannot retrieve previously sent items if you are a new subscriber so my advice is to subscribe and do not leave.  You can get recent gifts for a period of time if you are a current subscriber.

Hair Fair is primarily a fundraiser for Wigs for Kids.  It is not a freebie event and I personally spend generously at the event.  Each designer is required to give at least 15% of the proceeds from each sale to Wigs for Kids, though I saw most designers voluntarily donating higher percentages.  Everything you need to know about the charity, store locations, maps, and so forth can be easily found on the official Hair Fair 2013 website.  I've provided the sim location (above) of each gift to get you started.  Enjoy!

Wassup y'all. It's been a minute, eh? Just dropping in to show you a nearly-free look (everything except the Ikon eyes + the $30L gatcha necklace; more on that below), styled with some recent free cuties yours for the taking, courtesy of recent hunts (fair warning: some are ending very soon!) + 1 of SL's most iconic events, Hair Fair 2013 (hopefully y'all have been catching our own Eden Knoller's excellent coverage of it here on Free*Style). 
If you've been reading Eden's posts, you'll already know that the driving point behind Hair Fair 2013 is to actually spend your $L to assist the well-worthy charity this event is helping, Wigs for Kids (i.e., freebies aren't really the point). That being said, some designers have generously donated some notably nice things for the event, some of which were used to style my casual look today: a free 2-tone hair gift by Due, some free texture-change chandelier earrings + a free slouchy tank by AUX; I styled this all matchy-matchy with a  free owl shoulder bag that you can grab at a lucky boards tote bags bonanza, offering a total of 5 free bags in all. (Btw the Clawtooth Hair Fair 2013 dollarbie here is also very much worth grabbing, easily 1 of the cutest gifts at the event; buy the little brown paper bag on the dresser for $1L).

A word about this skin: if you don't already know the Essences store, skinner Inka Mexicola's skins are on my personal go-to list for her knowing, intelligentsia faces that exude a certain je ne sais quoi. This extremely pretty skin I'm wearing here is yours for free if you simply click the Essences subscribo (note the heavy eyeliner-pen makeup)! Neither Here nor There

I told my mother that if I vanished suddenly not to come looking for me.

Alright, well it's not as drastic as it sounds. I said this because if I got the chance to leave for another world... I was gone. I would go and I would never come back. A handsome stranger to come scoop me away in a blue box, or a portal into the fae realm at the back of a hidden cave behind a waterfall. (I always check.) I would step through and never look back. The colours would be brighter, the tastes sweeter. Wind through the trees would sing like a melody and I would be at home. I would finally... be at home.

My heart would ache less for my wasted potential. I could shed my worldly cares and take new ones. I could leave my name behind if I wanted, and venture into the unknown.

When I talk about this, people tell me I should just travel. It's not the same though. It could never be the same. This earth is still this earth with these humans, these problems.

I packed my bags. I left my phone at home. I packed my ukulele, and a few odds and ends, and set off. Travel's not what I was after, exactly, but it's a good start. Maybe... maybe while I'm out here I'll find what I'm looking for.

Maybe one night, I'll look up from where I'm resting under a tree, to watch the sky's glimmering dusk, and a figure would appear. Not quite all-there, at first, but as he approaches, he coalesces; his form now clear and solid. His eyes are like a galaxy in the furthest reaches of space, and when he looks upon me I feel fear and hope all at once. Without a word, he extends his hand, and I would take it, knowing.

But until then I will travel, searching for the magic in this world alone.
