What Can You Do With a Free Mesh Av?

  Or, more accurately, what can you do with a free mesh av that sort of sucks?  Heh.  Basically if you haven't noticed LL recently added a bunch of new start avatars to the library.  They are mesh avatars and most of them are really horrible, like they look like 2006 came back and exploded onto mesh.  Terrible.  Seriously.
  But some of them are pretty cool, like the zombies, for one example. I kind o fliked a few of the human avatars, one of them being the one below.  It was so, so flawed though so I thought it would be fun to mess around with it in GIMP and see what I could do.  I only spent a tiny amount of time but I got it looking sort of ok.
  Here's the thing:  I know you can do better than me.  I want to see it!!  What would be really cool is if you took pictures of yourself wearing the starter av and posted the photos in the Free*Style Flickr pool for me, and any other interested parties, to see.  Not only is it fun but it's also a way to show off your mad photo skills.  And if you don't want to do post-processing in Photoshop or whatever you could just take a photo making them look good somehow.  Woo!

On The Boardwalk

The water glittered under the hot mid-day sun. Seagulls keened overhead as they flew in circles, and swooped to pick nervously at the discarded scraps along the beach. It was hot enough to fry an egg on a tin sheet, but the salty ocean breeze made the heat bearable. Glorious, in fact. The excitement was palpable. The tinkling of carnival music could barely be heard above the bustling crowd, eager to try their luck at the arcade.

Intergalactic Planetary

I know this picture is bright but hey it's an excuse to wear sunglasses indoors. :P  I just felt like I needed something super spacey to show off the free Galaxy outfit from Sakide.  The outfit includes the lingerie with several options to wear, a ring and earrings.  It's pretty easy to find too!  My pose is one of many you can get from Status for Moody Monday.  Only 55L for packs of 5 poses.  Dang good deal.  The creators are bloggers so you know they will work wonders in photos.

Your Granny is a Star

December has these AMAZING glasses for free as a group gift.  The glasses have color and opacity changes for the frames, lenses, jewels, etc.  They can be worn on the face or on top of the had.  They have bling/glow/shine/jewel on or off options.  They are basically customizable to the max.  And did I mention they are free?  Yes, free.  This is one of the best gifts I have seen in a while!  Thank you MandyMandy!

While the glasses can be worn with an opaque lenses for a rock star look, with colored frames and lenses for a trendy look and more, I thought it would be fun to wear them over sized with the brown frames and semi-opaque lenses for a sort of fabulous retro grandma look. xD  The free texture testers from Lamb had the prefect gray to compliment that style.  I'm not even sure if these texture testers are meant to be worn out but hey, they come in all colors, are an adorable bob, and are free.  So yay!  And what fancy grandma goes without lots of jewelry?  None that I know of!  So grab the free set from Donna Flora to fill that need.
